Ingredients

For the simple syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 cinnamon sticks (broken in half)

For each drink:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 2 ounces apple cider
  • 1/4 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce cinnamon simple syrup
  • Dash orange bitters
  • Orange peel (for garnish)

Instructions

Make the syrup:

  • In a small saucepan, bring the water, sugar, and cinnamon to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow the cinnamon to steep while the mixture cools, ideally for at least one hour. Remove the cinnamon sticks before storing.

Make the drinks:

  • For each drink, combine the bourbon, cider, lemon juice, simple syrup, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled then pour over ice in a glass and serve with an orange peel for garnish.

Notes

  • The syrup can be made up to a month in advance and stored in the fridge in a sealed container.
