Rich and creamy Bailey's Coffee combines brewed coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur and whipped cream for a super comforting brunch cocktail or night cap.
2ouncesBailey's Irish Cream liqueur(more or less as you prefer)
2teaspoonssweetener(I prefer brown sugar)
Dollop of whipped cream(store bought or homemade)
Freshly grated nutmeg
Instructions
Add the coffee to a mug, then stir in the sweetener until dissolved.
Stir in the Bailey's.
Top with whipped cream. It will start to melt into the drink right away, but if you prefer, microwave for an additional 20 seconds to melt the whipped cream completely before serving.
Notes
Personalize the flavor by increasing or omitting the sweetener. I love the richness of brown sugar as a sweetener, but vanilla simple syrup, granulated sugar, and honey also work.
We preferred the 1:4 ratio of Bailey's to coffee, but if you want it stronger, try a 1:3 ratio of 2 ounces of Bailey's to 6 ounces of hot coffee. Adjust with the amount of Bailey's and coffee to suit your preferences.
Warm your mug with hot water before adding coffee to keep your drink hot longer—a pro tip for serious coffee lovers.
You can just plop the homemade whipped cream on top, but I actually like to warm the drink in the microwave for 20 seconds so the cream melts, forming a foamy top that is similar to steamed milk, but sweeter and richer.
Homemade Whipped Cream: Canned whipped cream is fine in a pinch, but nothing compares to homemade whipped cream, and it's really easy to make!
Add 1 cup of heavy whipping cream to the bowl of a stand mixer. If desired, add 2-3 Tablespoons of powdered sugar.
Beat on high speed with the whisk attachment until the cream is thick and billowy. You can stop when it's soft set or continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
