Ingredients

  • 3 lbs. assorted sweet tart apples (such as Gala and Honeycrisp) (peeled and sliced 1/8 inch thick)
  • 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • Juice of 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • cup apple cider or water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with the remaining ingredients.
  • Spread the apples out in a 13 x 9 inch casserole dish and cover with foil. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove from the oven, uncover, and stir.
  • Continue to bake for another 15-25 minutes, or until apples are soft and sweet and sauce is thickened and caramelized. Serve by themselves or with ice cream.

Notes

  • I love fresh lemon juice as I think it just tastes much brighter. But if you keep a jar in the fridge that's fine too.
