Stockyard Pony Cocktail

This classic Stockyard Pony Cocktail combine bourbon, Campari, lemon juice, and simple syrup for a warming citrus cocktail that's perfect any time of year.

Ingredients
 

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 ounces Campari
  • 1/2 ounce Turbinado simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 - 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • Flamed orange peel for garnish

For the simple syrup:

  • 1 cup Turbinado sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

For the simple syrup:

  • Place sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat mixture until sugar is completely dissolved. Allow syrup to cool. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

For the cocktails:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add bourbon, Campari, simple syrup, bitters and lemon juice. Replace lid and shake until chilled. Strain into an ice filled glass and garnish with flamed orange peel.

Notes

  • The syrup will keep in a jar in the fridge for a couple weeks.
