Mango Strawberry Banana Smoothies: 5 minutes and 5 simple ingredients is all you need to make these creamy tropical smoothies!
Whatever happened to the plain fruit smoothie? I mean, nothing against green smoothies, but does every smoothie have to be stuffed with kale and spinach? I mean, St. Paddy’s Day is over, so I think it’s okay for us to enjoy the pure, jewel toned goodness of a mango strawberry smoothie untainted by greens (no offense kale).
Spring is right around the corner, and I am so ready. I try really hard to eat seasonally, but last week I caved and bought several containers of berries from Costco. I ate them all in a few days. It was awesome.
But since berries are still a little before their prime, I’m filling the rest of my craving through frozen smoothies like this Mango Banana Strawberry Smoothie.
Fruit Filled Mango Banana Strawberry Smoothies
This smoothie is made with just five simple ingredients:
- 1 cup chopped mango (either fresh or frozen). I personally find peeling and coring a whole mango rather vexing, so I usually opt for frozen. And don’t even talk to me about finding a perfectly ripe mango. It’s nearly impossible!
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 frozen or fresh banana (fresh bananas will make the smoothie slightly less thick).
- 1/4 cup vanilla yogurt
- 2-4 Tablespoons pineapple juice (or orange juice, or coconut milk–whatever liquid suits your fancy!)
I don’t know why I’ve never thought to add mango to a smoothie. It has so much flavor, a nice tropical flair, and plenty of natural sweetness.
In fact, between the over-ripe banana, frozen strawberries, and mango, you don’t need to add any sugar or sweetener to this smoothie. Honestly, this tastes more like a milkshake than a smoothie…except it’s healthy for you. Soooo…WIN!
How To Make a Strawberry Banana Mango Smoothie
Like most smoothies, this one is a cinch to make. Just toss everything in the blender and blend until smooth! If your blender has trouble with the frozen fruit, add liquid, a Tablespoon at a time, until it blends.
I recently upgraded the blender I got for our wedding (over 10 years ago, EEP!), and have been really impressed with the Kitchen Aid K400. It blends up a pile of frozen fruits with no issues, and if you are adding greens to your smoothie, it chops them so finely they’re undetectable. It’s even great for blender muffin batters, like in my Healthy Pumpkin Muffins!
Mango Strawberry Smoothie Variations
My kids and I both love the simplicity of these Mango Strawberry Banana Smoothies, but you can feel free to switch things up if you like!
- Substitute the yogurt for dairy-free yogurt for a dairy free option.
- Add 1-2 Tablespoons ground flax seed for some extra Omega 3s and fiber.
- Add 1-2 Tablespoons chia seeds for a burst of antioxidants and protein.
- Toss in your favorite protein powder.
- And yes, you can even throw a handful of greens (spinach or kale) if you want!
