Add the oil to a skillet set over medium heat. Add the ground beef and onions, breaking up the ground beef until it's spread evenly over the pan. Saute until beef is browned and onions are softened, stirring occasionally.
Stir in kidney beans and taco seasoning to coat. Taste and add additional salt, if necessary. If there's a lot of extra fat left in the pan, drain it off.
Meanwhile, prepare the dressing. Whisk together Miracle Whip, sour cream, taco seasoning, sugar, and hot sauce, to taste.
In a bowl, combine the lettuce, avocado, tomato, beans, cheese, beef mixture, and chips.
Add the dressing and stir together until combined. Serve immediately.
