Bundt cakes are one of the most versatile types of desserts, and our absolute favorite to make. They are typically no more difficult to whip up than a sheet cake, but because of the unique shape of the pan, they look effortlessly elegant.
Because the cake itself is so lovely, bundt cakes require little in the way of decoration. Perhaps a sprinkling of powdered sugar, a glaze running over the side, or just a scattering of fresh fruit piled on top. These cakes are worthy of a special occasion, but without requiring any tedious or special decorating skills.
This bundt pan checks all the boxes. It is budget friendly, big enough to hold any cake recipe, made of sturdy aluminum, and has a classic shape that’s perfect for cascading rivers of glaze.
Note: some of these pans have a 10 cup capacity, which may be too small for some cake recipes. If I use these pans, I sometimes have to bake some of the batter in a cupcake tin.The batter should only be filled 3/4 full in a bundt pan.

Can you make a regular cake in a bundt pan?
Yes! Most sheet cakes, layer cakes, and pound cakes can be made in a bundt pan, including boxed cake mixes. In fact, many of the bundt cake recipes below start with cake mix and instant pudding, including our Strawberry Bundt Cake.
There are a couple things to keep in mind when converting your cake recipe for a bundt pan:
Make sure your cake recipe will have the right amount of batter. Recipes made in 9 x 13 inch pans or 2 8-9 inch round pans should be about perfect for bundt pans. If your recipe calls for a single loaf pan or 8 inch square pan, you’ll want to double it for the bundt.
Grease well. (More on this below!)
Don’t overfill. Bundt pans should be filled no more than 3/4 full. If you have extra batter, make cupcakes!
Adjust the time. You can bake bundt cakes at the same temperature as their counterparts, but they will take longer than a sheet cake or round cakes to bake. Most take around an hour, though we recommend checking for doneness at the 45 minute mark.
How to Grease a Bundt Pan
Properly greasing your bundt pan is the key to getting the cake out perfectly every time. We have had the most consistent success using Baker’s Joy, a spray that combines oil and flour. Using a spray makes it super easy to get into all the nooks and crannies!
If you prefer not to use a spray, we recommend using shortening. Scoop it out with a plastic bag and use your fingers to make sure it’s rubbed all over the inside of your pan. Sprinkle with flour, then add your batter.
Additionally, allow cakes to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack or a plate.
