Cranberry Mimosas

Bubbly Cranberry Mimosas are a festive way to kick off Christmas morning and are so easy to make!

While many families have special Christmas dinner traditions, our family is all about Christmas breakfast.

After all, if I’m going to wake up early to wildly excited children, frenzied present unwrapping, and the deluge of toy assembly and battery loading that follows, I’m going to need overnight cinnamon rolls and a little bubbly to look forward to.

Side note: WHHHHHY are children’s toys packaged like military grade weapons? It’s a plastic dump truck, not the nuclear codes. Let’s all calm down.

Maybe your Christmas mornings aren’t quite as chaotic as ours. If that’s the case, you can wake up at 10 AM, make yourself a Cranberry Mimosa, and sip it as you enjoy the warm glow of the Christmas lights in your living room that’s most definitely not littered with shredded wrapping and plastic debris.

For the rest of us, these Cranberry Mimosas are easy enough to make on the fly, right after the stockings and before the kids start tearing into the presents. You can cheers your partner from across the room and share that universal look of parenthood that says, “I’m tired, and it’s too loud in here, but I sure am grateful to be doing this with you.”

What I’m trying to say is–Christmas Mimosas are the way to add a little adult celebration to your holiday, whatever it may look like. Here’s how to make them!

How to Make Cranberry Mimosas

All you need to make these gorgeous Christmas Mimosas are three ingredients:

  • Cranberry Juice Cocktail— I find straight cranberry juice far too bitter and prefer to use a cranberry juice cocktail.
  • Orange Liqueur, such as Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier
  • Prosecco or Champagne

Most mimosa recipes call for champagne, but I prefer the flavor of a sparkling wine like Prosecco or Cava. It’s also much cheaper!

Of course, feel free to substitute champagne if you prefer!

To make the mimosas, fill a champagne glass halfway with chilled cranberry juice. Add a splash of orange liqueur then top with Prosecco.

I like to add a few sugared cranberries for garnish. An orange peel or sprig of rosemary would also be lovely!

What to Serve with Your Christmas Mimosas

Alright, you’ve got your bubbly covered, now for the other Christmas goodies!

If you’re after a sweet breakfast, you can’t go wrong with Overnight Pancake Casserole, Apple Overnight French Toast, Orange French Toast Casserole, or Air Fryer Donuts (<<<these are super fast and fun to make with kids!).

An epic Pancake Party Spread is also a wonderful and fun way to kick off the day!

If you prefer something savory, our Crustless Quiche Lorraine, Breakfast Pull Apart Bread, and Overnight Breakfast Casserole with Bacon are all fabulous.

If your kids are anything like ours, they’ll want in on your Cranberry Mimosa action, which I why I also like to make a non-alcoholic Christmas Morning Punch for them to enjoy! For the evening, settle in with a glass of Bourbon Eggnog.

And if you need something hot, try setting out all the fixings for Homemade Tea Lattes or a White Chocolate Mocha.
